We Love It When a Plan Comes Together

There is a group of very talented architects located right in McComm’s hometown of Decatur, Alabama. That firm is called GBW Architects and we’re just happy to be associated with them. Like us, they love it when a plan comes together. Partners, John Godwin, Sam Barnett and Jacob Woods allowed us to be the architects for their new web presence and today we’ve launched it for your inspection. Godwin Barnett and Woods ArchitectsThe site features a portfolio of both commercial and residential projects GBW has designed. It also features information on the principals of the company as well as their design philosophy. This site was designed to play well with smart devices such as iPads and iPhones so feel free to navigate to your finger’s content. To visit the site, go to www.GBWArchitects.com.

More buzz than a chatterbait!

What’s all the racket? That noise you hear is the excitement created by the wildly popular web site for the new Alabama Bass Trail built by McWhorter Communications. We were honored to have been selected by the Alabama Tourism Director and the great folks at Alabama Mountain Lakes to cast their new brand. The only thing that upstaged Governor Bentley’s press conference on the subject was the 12 lb. bass waiting at the dock in Professional Guide Mike Carter’s live-well. Built with anglers in mind, the site features detailed info on arguably the best bass waters in the world, including current conditions and reports from pro-fishermen. Need more? How about maps that not only show you where to launch, but where to fish. Still not satisfied? How about Pro Tips to show you what to throw. Yeah, that’s there and we’re not finished. Soon, a neat widget to search for and book accommodations near the lake of your choice will be live.

Program Director, Kay Donaldson, writes, “Thank you McWhorter Communications for knocking it out of the park on the Alabama Bass Trail web site!”

To see the site for yourself, go to www.AlabamaBassTrail.org or to see photos of the governor holding “Big Bertha,” visit our facebook.com/McWhorterCommunications page.

Law and Order for All

Morgan County District Attorney's OfficeEvery once in a while we get to work on a project that… well, it makes us feel good. McWhorter Communications is fortunate to have been given the task of creating a new web site for Scott Anderson and his Morgan County District Attorney’s Office. Yeah, they do all the hard work, but this job allowed us to tell their story. Did you know that the M.C.D.A.’s office had a special Victim Services Department that helped crime victims wade through the red tape to get their lives back together? Or that they had a Worthless Check Unit to help merchants and the criminals to get their rightful due? You’ll also find a lot of useful and practical info such as a court calendar page, a criminal felony procedure chart, and even a legal glossary so you can know what your lawyer friends are talking about.

See these services and more by visiting http://morgancountyda.com.

Thanks, Scott. It’s nice to work for the good guys.

Cleared for Takeoff!

McWhorter Communications is proud to report that a freshly launched annual report for the Huntsville/Madison County Airport Authority is now traversing the web. This digital presentation features highlights that impacted the Huntsville International Airport, the International Intermodal Center and the Jetplex Industrial Park during the year of 2011. While still digital, this latest edition is vastly different from the 2010 report (see our Dec. 7, 2010 press release below). Besides the obvious design and navigation changes, the 2011 report was designed to be compatible with iPads and other smart devices. This report will not be printed, but you’re in luck because you can view it right here.

McComm fires on all cylinders for Toyota!

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Alabama (TMMAL) really knows how to celebrate. We should know because we’ve been fortunate enough to help them plan and execute their events for over ten years. The latest and greatest was an all-hands-on-deck party honoring their Team Members. The occasion also highlighted their tenth anniversary in the Huntsville, AL community and the unique fact that TMMAL was the only plant in the world which was now manufacturing Toyota’s 4-cylinder, V-6 and V-8 engines all under one roof! TMMAL 4-Cylinder Video ScreenshotMany dignitaries, including the governor of AL were on hand to hear this announcement and to celebrate their employees’ achievements. During these celebrations, Toyota gave 2 vehicles and over $200,000 to 12 worthy charities.

Besides event planning and coordination, McWhorter Communications provided invitations, stage design, vehicle signage and in-plant banner designs. We also produced a short video which premiered at the event. To see the Tenth Anniversary, 4-Cylinder video, click here.

Go Shoot, Go Fish, – Go Surf!

Even if you do not enjoy shooting, fishing or hunting this site is worth a gander. The global thinker behind Global Outfitters had a grand vision that at first pass seemed too big to contain in one web portal, but after several collaborative think-tank sessions we began to feel that it was indeed doable. Our client’s vision was to become the single-source outfitter for hunting, fishing and shooting adventures. On this site, the user would be able to select anything from a Himalayan Tahr to a Saltwater Croaker and then find the perfect place to stay to see one of these beauties.

Does a site like this exist? It does now. After the McComm team helped to define the navigation and create the look and brand of each page, Global Outfitters took the reigns to code and maintain their massive site. So if you want to know where to bag your next Redhartebeest or Spotted Seatrout be sure to check it out. They’re adding to GlobalOutfitters.com everyday.

McComm Wins State Award

McWhorter Communications, a full-service marketing, Internet, and public relations agency, was honored at the 2011 state conference of the Public Relations Council of Alabama. In the category of Reputation/Brand Management: Integrated Marketing Communications Program, the agency won an Award of Excellence for the “Go. Fly like a Pro.” campaign developed for Huntsville International Airport.

The agency developed advertising for broadcast and cable television, regional newspapers, digital and print billboards, online banner ads, as well as fliers targeting business-travelers. The messaging conveyed the advantages the airport’s new low-fare carrier provides to the Baltimore\Washington, DC market, one of Huntsville International Airport’s top 5 destinations. In addition to developing the creative, the agency developed and implemented the media plan.

The results of the comprehensive marketing program that features former U.S. Congressman Bud Cramer as a spokesperson for Huntsville International Airport and AirTran Airways are increased awareness of the service and increased passenger traffic on the flights. Mr. Cramer – a frequent flier on the AirTran flights to Baltimore/Washington, DC, commented: “In all my years of ‘doing’ TV, I have never gotten so many compliments on a TV ‘piece’ – unbelievable. Plane is fuller now, of course!”
