Cleared for Takeoff!

McWhorter Communications is proud to report that a freshly launched annual report for the Huntsville/Madison County Airport Authority is now traversing the web. This digital presentation features highlights that impacted the Huntsville International Airport, the International Intermodal Center and the Jetplex Industrial Park during the year of 2011. While still digital, this latest edition is vastly different from the 2010 report (see our Dec. 7, 2010 press release below). Besides the obvious design and navigation changes, the 2011 report was designed to be compatible with iPads and other smart devices. This report will not be printed, but you’re in luck because you can view it right here.

McComm Wins State Award

McWhorter Communications, a full-service marketing, Internet, and public relations agency, was honored at the 2011 state conference of the Public Relations Council of Alabama. In the category of Reputation/Brand Management: Integrated Marketing Communications Program, the agency won an Award of Excellence for the “Go. Fly like a Pro.” campaign developed for Huntsville International Airport.

The agency developed advertising for broadcast and cable television, regional newspapers, digital and print billboards, online banner ads, as well as fliers targeting business-travelers. The messaging conveyed the advantages the airport’s new low-fare carrier provides to the Baltimore\Washington, DC market, one of Huntsville International Airport’s top 5 destinations. In addition to developing the creative, the agency developed and implemented the media plan.

The results of the comprehensive marketing program that features former U.S. Congressman Bud Cramer as a spokesperson for Huntsville International Airport and AirTran Airways are increased awareness of the service and increased passenger traffic on the flights. Mr. Cramer – a frequent flier on the AirTran flights to Baltimore/Washington, DC, commented: “In all my years of ‘doing’ TV, I have never gotten so many compliments on a TV ‘piece’ – unbelievable. Plane is fuller now, of course!”

A Digital Solution

McWhorter Communication was honored to help The Huntsville/Madison County Airport Authority create and distribute their Port of Huntsville 2010 Annual Report. Since 1989, members of the McComm team have been tasked with not only designing and printing the airport’s beautiful and informative annual reports, but with finding methods to cut costs and yet still deliver high quality marketing materials.

The solution: go completely digital. This 2010 e-publication was delivered through social media channels, e-blasts, e-newsletters and web links, thus completely removing all printing and snail-mail costs.
